Foundation
Dance Program

The program almost everyone starts with. This is where the base is built — coordination, strength, flexibility and technique, the things nothing else works without. No audition needed; a trial class is enough.

  • Age6–9 (Junior) and 10–14 (Senior)
  • EntryNo audition, starts with a trial class
  • StylesContemporary, jazz technique, technical work
  • ExperienceNot required — beginners welcome
  • StartSeptember 2026, first intake
02Who it is for

Who this program is for

Three very different children arrive at Foundation for the same reason: everyone needs the base put in properly.

First time

Never danced before

Starts from zero in a group matched by age and level. Nobody is left chasing the rest.

Next step

Has danced, wants more

Has studio or club experience but no system. Here technique is laid out level by level.

Preparation

Preparing for the professional program

Did not pass the audition, or is not ready yet — builds up and tries again in six months.

Experience is optional. Regularity matters more: technique is built by repetition, not by talent.

03What develops

What a child builds over a season

01

Coordination and body control

A child starts to know where their arms, legs and centre are — and to control them deliberately.

02

Flexibility and strength

Stretching and strengthening go together: flexibility without strength invites injury, strength without flexibility goes nowhere.

03

Turns and jumps

Technical work: spotting, axis, landing. Broken down slowly, not «copy what I do».

04

Musicality

Hearing the beat and the phrase, and landing on them with the body rather than counting aloud.

05

Stamina

Holding a full class without fading after twenty minutes. That is a separate skill, and it is trained.

06

Discipline

Arriving on time, working at full effort, finishing what was started. It carries well beyond the studio.

07

Posture

The change parents notice first — a child stands and walks differently by the end of the year.

08

Confidence

Grows from performing, and from managing today what was impossible yesterday.

04Groups

Two age groups

Children of different ages work at different speeds and loads. So Foundation is split, and level is taken into account inside each group too.

Junior

Ages 6–9

More play and more variety, shorter blocks. Technique comes in portions so attention lasts the whole class.

Senior

Ages 10–14

Full technical work, longer combinations, real demands on clean execution. Closer to the professional format.

Next

Move to Professional

Students showing strong progress move into the professional program, on a teacher's recommendation and an audition.

What to bring to the first class

  • Fitted clothing: a top or leotard and leggings
  • Hair tied back
  • Socks or ballet flats — no shoes needed
  • Water

How the group is chosen

After the trial class the teacher says which group will be both manageable and interesting. Age is only the first filter — level decides.

05Practical

Timetable, kit, fees

The exact days depend on the group, and the group depends on your child's level. So we send the timetable and the price list after the trial class, along with a recommendation — that way you compare real options rather than a range.

  • FrequencySeveral times a week, set by group
  • KitA top or leotard, leggings, hair tied back, socks or ballet flats
  • FeesOn request — depends on the number of classes a week
  • Make-upsIn a parallel group of a suitable level when there is space
  • StageShowcases through the year — all groups take part
